From my experience as a research technician, this mouse heat lamp works well to keep blood vessels dilated (in the mouse tail, for example), which allows the mouse to be bled quicker and easier.
The lamp is good to have when collecting blood from mice, when phenotyping by means of flow cytometry.
75 watts is an ideal warmth. Make sure not to keep the heat lamp too close to the animal when it is in use.
